Announcing Early Rise Singapore! Media Rise is excited to host “Early Rise 2014,” a worldwide series of morning mixers for people committed to inspiring media for social good.


After our launch in Washington, D.C. & Austin, we're headed east...to Singapore!

SPEAKERS




Grace Clapham founded The Change School and Change Ventur.es to help individuals realize their ideas and passions. Grace is also the Director & Founder of Agent Grace where she consults and works with new businesses entering the SEAsian region in business strategy, brand management and marketing. In addition Grace Co-founded, Secret {W} Business, a community and network for women entrepreneurs, changemakers and innovators across the S.E.Asian region. Besides her own ventures, Grace is a co-organiser of CreativeMornings Singapore,SheSays Singapore and Lead Curator and Organiser of TEDxSingapore Women. She recently also joined deceler8.me as an ambassador to help curate the first cohort of entrepreneurs needing to re-focus. In November 2013 Grace was chosen as one of 13 iconoclasts and recognised as a Visionary by the renowned Grey Goose brand and its dedicated Guild for her work. In March 2014 Grace was chosen to speak at SXSW Interactive 2014 on Co-Creation By Design: Asia, Women and Innovation.


Julio Etchart has pioneered the practice of photovoice with NGOs and has facilitated workshops in participatory image-making with grassroots communities in many countries in the majority world. After being awarded a World Press Photo First Prize in the Environment category, he produced The Four Elements a touring exhibition on ecological issues, sponsored by the European Union and War on Want. Julio’s long-term project on children’s play around the world, Toys, was published in four languages and won him an UNICEF award. His latest photo-book project: Katha: in the footsteps of George Orwell in Burma, is scheduled to be published next year. He has recently joined CARE at the Faculty of Communications and New Media at the National University of Singapore. His main area of research and action is to develop the photovoice practice with migrant workers and other marginalized communities.


Jacqui Hocking is a Creative Director (Filmmaker) and Co-Founder of LateNite Films in Melbourne, and Gone Adventurin, a Social Enterprise set up here in Singapore.

She has produced, filmed and edited all over the world; living with Maasai Warriors in Tanzania, Sherpas on Mount Everest in Nepal, Iguanas on the Galapagos Islands, and loads of other remote and beautiful places she got to by sailing across oceans, hiking or cycling with her cameras. Her enterprise Gone Adventurin' supports others in the industry to adapt to the future of storytelling, and help the worlds most powerful brands change the world for the better - through connecting companies, communities and consumers through powerful content.

Arrival Time: You are encouraged to arrive by 8:45 AM. Our schedule is pretty packed and we will start on time. Please allow for at least 15 extra minutes to find the venue if you are new to NUS campus.


Directions: Inside NUS campus, go to the very end of Lower Kent Ridge Road to get to the roundabout with a parking lot in the middle (next to the Business School). Visitors can park here. The venue is located above the Arts canteen (also known as The Deck) across from the parking lot on top of a small green hill. Please walk up to the second floor above the Arts canteen. You should see "Early Rise Singapore" signs here leading you to the venue, the faculty lounge.
